Flashing/Blinking LED Circuit using 555 timer

Flashing/Blinking LED Circuit using 555 timer

A flashing/blinking LED circuit on a breadboard. This circuit flashes LED at an interval of around 500ms using 555 timer IC and a few other electronics components. This a beginner project and is intended to make you understand the basic principles and working of the 555 timer IC. Watch the video for step by step instructions on how to build the circuit.
There is also an explanation of the circuit's working along with how to adjust the flashing rate later in the video. If wish to calculate the precise values of components for flashing the LED at any other rate, download the 555 timer calculator tool. Install, open the tool and enter the frequency with which you need the LED to flash. You will then get the values of Resistors and Capacitor you need to use in the circuit.

Components Required:

  1. 555 Timer IC
  2. Breadboard
  3. Power supply: 5v-12v
  4. LED
  5. Resistors: 100kohms, 470kohms, 270ohms
  6. Capacitor: 1µF
  7. Few Breadboard Connectors
